WALLS DON'T FAIL FROM WEIGHT. THEY FAIL FROM WATER.
A leaning wall isn't holding too much dirt — it's holding too much water. Redemptive Outdoor Services builds and rebuilds block and boulder retaining walls throughout Harmony and southeast Minnesota. We set a compacted base below grade, build the wall with the setback it needs to lean into the slope, and put drainage stone and a drain line behind it so water leaves instead of pushing. That's the difference between a wall that holds for decades and one you're looking at again in five years.

SIGNS YOUR RETAINING WALL IS FAILING
It's leaning out at the top. A wall tipping forward is being pushed, and it doesn't push itself back. Once it starts moving it accelerates, and every freeze-thaw cycle takes it a little further.
There's a bulge in the middle. Bowing means the pressure behind the wall has found the weakest section. It's the stage before blocks start separating, and it's the last easy warning you get.
The joints have opened or stair-stepped. Gaps between blocks and cracks running diagonally through the courses mean the wall is moving in more than one direction — usually because the base under it settled.
Soil or mulch is washing out through the face. If material is coming through the wall, water is moving through it too. That means there's no proper drainage behind it, or what's there has plugged.
Water stands behind it after rain. A wall with working drainage doesn't hold water. If the ground behind it stays soggy, the wall is carrying hydrostatic pressure it was never built to take.
If your wall is showing any of these, call Redemptive Outdoor Services at 507-216-6586 before it comes down on its own. We'll look at what's actually behind it and tell you honestly whether it can be repaired or needs to be rebuilt — and when the answer is rebuild, we'll say so instead of taking your money to reset blocks that will move again.
HOW WE DO THE WORK
Step 1
We call the same day we receive your info to come look at the site — checking the slope, the height you need, where water is coming from, and what's behind an existing wall if there is one. On a failing wall, the cause matters more than the damage.
Step 2
From there, we put together a clear, upfront price with the block or stone options laid out, along with an honest read on repair versus rebuild. No pressure, no surprises, and no quoting a fix we don't think will hold.
Step 3
Once you choose, we schedule the build and give you a date. We excavate and compact a base below grade, set the first course level, build with proper setback, backfill with drainage stone, and run a drain line so water has somewhere to go.
Step 4
We walk the finished wall with you, then check back after the first spring thaw — the hardest thing a wall in Minnesota goes through. We'd rather hear about movement early and make it right than assume everything's perfect.
