THE PART YOU SEE IS THE LAST TEN PERCENT OF THE WORK

A paver patio is the most usable thing you can add to a property — and the easiest to build wrong. Redemptive Outdoor Services designs and installs paver patios throughout Harmony and southeast Minnesota. We lay the space out on the ground before you commit to it, excavate and compact a base built for frost rather than for looks, slope it so water leaves the house, and lock the perimeter so the field stays tight. The pavers are the finish. Everything under them is the job.

WHAT TO ASK BEFORE YOU SIGN ANY PATIO BID

^

How deep are you excavating, and what goes in? Base depth and material are the single biggest cost difference between bids, and the one thing you can't inspect after the fact. Get a number from every contractor and compare those numbers, not just the totals.

^

How are you compacting it? Base has to go in and get compacted in layers, not dumped and rolled once. A patio that wasn't compacted properly looks perfect on day one and starts rocking in year two.

^

What's holding the edges? Without edge restraint locking the perimeter, a paver field spreads outward and the joints open up. It's a small line item and the reason some patios stay tight for twenty years.

^

What goes in the joints? Polymeric sand hardens and resists washout and weeds. Plain sand is cheaper and doesn't. Ask which one is in the bid.

^

Which way does the water go? A patio has to slope away from the house — enough to shed water, not enough to feel tilted. Ask any bidder where the water ends up. If they haven't thought about it, that's your answer.

If you're thinking about a patio for next season, call Redemptive Outdoor Services at 507-216-6586. We'll mark the space out on the ground so you can stand in it, talk through materials and layout, and put a written price in your hands. If our bid comes in higher than someone else's, ask us both those five questions above — that's usually where the difference is.

HOW WE DO THE WORK

Step 1

We call the same day we receive your info to schedule a time to walk the space with you. We mark the patio out on the ground so you can see the actual footprint and walk it — because almost everyone's first instinct is smaller than what they end up wanting.

Step 2

From there, we put together a clear, upfront price with paver styles, colors, and layout options priced side by side, including what a seating wall or fire pit would add. No pressure, and no problem taking a week or a month to decide.

Step 3

Once you choose, we schedule the build and give you a firm start date. We excavate, build and compact the base in lifts, set and cut the pavers, install edge restraint, sweep in polymeric sand, and clean the site at the end of every day we're on it.

Step 4

We walk the finished patio with you, then come back after the first winter to see how it came through freeze and thaw. We'd rather hear about a settled spot early and make it right than assume everything's perfect.
