WHAT SEPARATES WORK THAT LASTS FROM WORK THAT DOESN'T
The base, and how much of it. Pavers set on thin base or undisturbed soil will move. A properly excavated and compacted base is most of the labor on any hardscape job, and it's the first thing a low bid takes out.
Compaction in lifts. Base material has to be compacted in layers, not dumped and run over once. Skipping it doesn't show on install day — it shows in year two, as low spots and rocking pavers.
Drainage, especially behind walls. Water pressure behind a retaining wall is what actually pushes it over. Drainage stone and a drain line behind the block matter more than the block itself.
Edge restraint. Without something locking the perimeter, a paver field spreads outward from the edges and the joints open up. It's a small part of the cost and the reason patios stay tight.
Frost is the real test. Anything built here goes through freeze and thaw every year. Work that was fine in Ohio fails in Minnesota, and the difference is what's underneath.

We call the same day we receive your info to schedule a time to walk the space with you — measuring, checking slope and drainage, and laying out the shape and size so you can see it before anything is committed.

From there, we put together a clear, upfront price with materials and layout options priced side by side. No pressure, no surprises, and no problem taking a week to think it over — this isn't a decision anyone should rush.
Step 3
Once you choose, we schedule the build and give you a date. We excavate, build and compact the base in lifts, set the material, lock the edges, and clean the site up at the end of every day we're there.
Step 4
We walk the finished work with you, then check back after the first winter to see how it came through freeze and thaw. We'd rather hear it early and make it right than assume everything's perfect.
